7175 aluminium is a high strength, heat treatable, forging alloy in the wrought aluminium-magnesium family. It has an excellent combination of toughness, tensile strength and stress corrosion cracking resistance. 7175 alloy is widely used in the aerospace industry and machined fittings.
The T-73 temper eliminates the development of stress corrosion cracking (SCC). 7175 can be heat treated and hardened by cold working or heat treatment. This alloy can be hot worked. Cold working may be done by conventional methods, allowing generous bend radii as with 7075 aluminium alloy.
