5052 Aluminium Alloy

5052 aluminium contains magnesium as the primary alloying element. It is a non-heat treatable alloy that offers good workability and weldability, medium to high fatigue strength and very good corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater. 5052 aluminium alloy is commonly used in sheet, plate and tube form.

Typical applications are architecture, general sheet metal work, heat exchangers, fencing, pressure vessels, marine components, containers, appliances, kitchen cabinets, etc.

5052 aluminium alloy can be easily machined in hard temper and formed at room temperature. However, consecutive cold working tends to reduce the alloy’s formability. Aluminium 5052 alloy can be hardened by cold working only. Aluminium 5052 alloy can be forged from 510°C (950°F) down to 260°C (500°F) and hot worked easily from 510°C (950°F) down to 260°C (500°F).

5052 aluminium can be annealed at 343°C (650°F) and then air cooled When annealed, 5052 alloy is stronger than 1100 & 3003.
